For the survivor...shoes from Tires

I came across this site which details how to make your own sandal from tire tread. Good to know if it came down to needing shoes that badly. A really sharp knife and water is needed, but a bandsaw would be helpful. I found it really interesting, especially the comment posted by the man who actually did this when he needed shoes to cross the Alpes...he laced them with his lederhosen. I am intregued by survival skills and will also be visiting edible plants sometime in the future.
